Have you ever wondered what life would be like if there were no rules, laws or morals governing the societies of men? What would daily life be like? Would there be continual unrest among mankind? What would be the average life-span of a human life? Would there be any value placed on human life whatsoever? These are just a few of the questions that can be posed when considering life with no high power(s) at all. There are those who will try to say that there are no higher powers or levels of authority outside of the mind of man. Now, the challenge is for you to believe that God created all that is known in the universe and these things did not come from some random explosion, in some mythical dreamland.
Consider this, where did the ability to think and make the above considerations come from? Did they come from a random explosion of nothing forming into something and then, out of nothing, materializing into the world and life we now know and live in? Certainly not! Something cannot be formed from nothing because nothing cannot possibly form anything since nothing exists in nothing. How can this possibly be? It cannot in any way shape or form take place. For something to come into existence it must come from something else that exists. So why all the questions? They are necessary to stimulate the mind and imagination to begin the process of attempting to answer how all these things came into existence. A good place to begin answering these questions is in the first chapter of the book of Romans. Beginning in verse 18 of this chapter Paul is speaking of God’s wrath on unrighteousness but it is necessary to see the illustration he is making about how the power of God is revealed. In verse 20 Paul says, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;” indicating that there are things not seen with the human eye which provide sustainable proof that everything known in our world today demands the presence of a creator.
When speaking of the invisible things, it is now known how the molecular level(s) of everything is structured. In non-living materials, the structure is stable and constant whereas the molecular level (DNA) of everything living is susceptible to slight changes in the way(s) they are formed and function. When the DNA of a living being is examined under a microscope, it is now proven that there are invisible forces holding the atoms together and binding atoms together to form organs, muscle, bone or whatever else is needed to sustain life in the species being examined.
There is one major difference though between humans and every other creature under the sun and that is the ability to discern good and evil. How can we prove this to be true? Use a dog as an example in that when it becomes hungry it will do anything to obtain food, including killing another dog to ensure its survival whereas a human does not kill another human to use the deceased as food. In Genesis 1:26ff the passage says that the Lord gave man dominion over the fish of the sea, birds in the air and all the beasts that are on the earth. This shows that man-kind is superior to every other living thing on the earth and is reinforced by the beginning of verse 26 when we read, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” This more than validates the existence of a Higher Power, i.e. GOD, who created the universe, world and mankind in six days as detailed in the first three chapters of Genesis. So, do you accept the challenge to believe?
